Description

Chenin Blanc from Burgandy. Ready to drink now or later.

"Comes from vineyards all over their parcels, including some from Clos de Carmes and some from Clos de Guichaux, Soils are the tuffeau bedrock with varying ratios of clay, sand and stones. Average age of vines here is about 35 years. Fermentation in stainless steel, elevage in steel and large foudre for 5 months."

"Being electrified by one of Guiberteau’s white wines is quite the experience - these wines are mineral and fresh, with deep concentration and precision. Similar to the reds, the Chenin is picked on the earlier side compared to other producers in the region. The wines are pressed whole cluster, settled by gravity, and fermented with natural yeasts (never chaptalised). Malo is blocked by SO2 at the press, and wines are barrelled-down with the heavy lees. Elevage varies - only the Brézé and the Clos de Carmes see new barrel - the rest neutral oak, cement and steel. All the wines get a light filtration but no fining, and the estate has been farmed organically since the beginning."
